what are you doing in 2 weeks?
I will be going to kenya.
lastnight was the first of probably many crazy dreams about me getting to the airport and realizing I only packed my carry-on etc. etc.
i'm ready to get this adventure on the road!
daily gaining a glimpse of God, His world and His children while serving in Nakuru, Kenya.

knowing.
i recently heard a sermon on philippians 1:9
("and it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment")
as mentioned in this verse, i want my knowledge to flow from my Love.
we can have knowledge but not know.
if we don't do what we have knowledge of then we don't know.
I see that Paul is telling us here that our prayer should be that our love may abound from knowledge which is really knowing.
i want this trip to Kenya, every interaction, conversation, the experience as a whole to take my knowledge and turn it into knowing. knowing what it is like to be in His kingdom. to be His hands and feet. to love these children unconditionally.
i want knowledge that leads to particular actions that leads to love in the world. the type explained in phil 1:9.
and that is my attempt at putting into words my current prayer for my time in kenya.
which, oh that's right, begins in 1 month.
may the Peace of God be yours today,
sus
(p.s. just so we're all tracking: some things i KNOW already= "excited" doesn't fully contain my current thoughts on this trip. its too understated. i am countingdownthedayscantreallythinkofanythingelseexcited.)

hello december.
DECEMBER is upon us. beautiful snow and all. yesss. love it. also meaning its close to 1 month (41 days to be exact) until the big journey begins!
Support is coming along WONDERFULLY! I am almost there! and am excited to see how God continues to provide which could go towards needs of the baby home. I am also very excited to see how God is really equipping me with a team of prayer warriors who will cover and support my entire time in Africa. The affirmation and peace that transcends understanding (considering I'm traveling to a completely new continent alone for 4 months...which would typically terrify me..proof alone of the Spirit) is because of the prayer support from all of you.
I am off to brave and soak up the first real snow before traveling to a warm sunny country (which I will NOT hate by that point..)
May the Peace of God be yours today!

learning to blog.
(so apparently i'm not that good at blogging seeing how it's almost been a month..whoops. i guess i'm waiting to go to Kenya to make this a really "must-read" haaa.)
a few thoughts on this snowy Friday (really? snow?):
Africa prep: the Lord's prayer has really been on my heart towards support raising thing- trusting that God will provide all that I need every day which includes every day that I am in Nakuru. trusting that as He has prepared the way for this time in my life up to this point, He will continue to pave the way and fill in every detail, including every one of those dollars.
I have been nervous to be broken in Africa (which I am expecting). Brokenness is never fun yet it is so needed. I am very excited and anxious to see how God breaks AND rebuilds me. Softening my heart towards this culture, people, and what He is doing there.
also: i have never missed people i've never met..but now? i miss those babies. i cannot WAIT to meet them. every last one of them. SOEXCITED.
grace, peace and joy,
sus
(p.s. are you supposed to sign these?)

welcome.
sooo hi blog world.
i have to admit that this blog has been a long time coming. i am not sure where to start with this whole endeavor so let's just get this first post over with and start with an update of sorts. (which may be funny because the people who maaaay be reading this probably know more about my life than this could provide but I don't know where else to start..grace is needed before I get this blog thing down..)
update at large:
- where: since college: g-rap. a really great pastor calls it the epicenter of progressive culture. i agree and say it is one of the best cities in the US of A. not biased at all.
- employment: am finishing up my 1 year work at Bethany Christian Services in refugee foster care. I have 7 mondays left.. not that i'm counting.
- future excitement (aka the real reason for this blog): in less than 4 months. specifically January of 2011. I will be journeying to NAKURU, KENYA and will be living there, amongst babies and people I already love for 4 months. I am going to work with His Cherished Ones (hischerishedones.org) and am beyond excited to see what God has for me there (much more of this to come, i'm sure)
- ultimately though this blog will hopefully be hilarious (duh) and informative i hope to display ways I am able to see God's awesome Kingdom in everything I am doing.
random fact updates:
- i have an incredible appreciation for tivo. the lack of commercials (though this has decreased my commercial critique skills) and the ability to watch shows when convenient such as SNL on sunday afternoon, is genius.
- i love fall. i don't think i'll ever get sick of cool weather, layering and apple picking.
- taylor university homecoming= t-5 days. never have been so excited to go to the middle of Indiana. (actually probably every time i go there i'm equally as excited)
- i am purchasing tickets to travel to kenya this week.
welp, there we go. first post done....here's hoping this gets easier.
grace and peace to you.
